Bordeaux in 1959.
The vintage the press called the wine of the century, until 1961 arrived two years later. A hot, dry summer gave rich, high-alcohol wines with unusually soft tannins, and the best of them are still drinking.
The oldest of the first growths, already famous in London in the 1660s. The 1959 is a legendary vintage that has earned a perfect score, and at over sixty years it still carries the estate’s signature of warm bricks and tobacco.
Condition is described before anything travels: fill level, label, capsule and original case, bottle by bottle. If you have not bought an older bottle before, our note on fill levels explains what those words mean and what they are worth. The 1959 leaves storage once, insured and temperature-controlled, for your home, your cellar or your account at a bonded warehouse in Switzerland.
