On the Mosel and the Saar the question is not heat but ripeness at the edge of what is possible, and the classification on the label, from Kabinett to Trockenbeerenauslese, is a statement about sugar at harvest rather than about style.
From the estate’s Bibliotheca, the cellar library where a few bottles of every vintage since 1748 are kept. A thousand bottles were filled of this Spätlese cuvée.
