- López de Heredia Viña Tondonia Reserva: 1 bottle
The vintage in Spain.
The Spanish bottles here come from two houses that keep wine longer than anyone asks them to: Vega Sicilia in Ribera del Duero, where Único spends a decade between cask and bottle before release, and López de Heredia in Rioja, which still releases its Tondonia when it judges it ready and not when the market would like it.
A bodega that has changed almost nothing since 1877: American oak, long ageing, cobwebs. The 1973 red and the 1976 white Reserva are what old Rioja is supposed to taste like.
Condition is described before anything travels: fill level, label, capsule and original case, bottle by bottle. If you have not bought an older bottle before, our note on fill levels explains what those words mean and what they are worth. The 2013 leaves storage once, insured and temperature-controlled, for your home, your cellar or your account at a bonded warehouse in Switzerland.
