There is no Barbaresco Crichet Pajé, Roagna 1978 in the cellar at present. Bottles like this change hands privately, a few at a time, and rarely through a list.
Italy in 1978.
The legend of modern Piedmont. A cold, late spring cut the crop drastically, then a long dry autumn ripened what was left into wines of enormous tannin and acidity that took thirty years to open.
A single steep parcel of old vines, fermented for months on the skins and released after a decade in cask. Roagna bottles it only in the best years and in very small numbers.
If you are looking for one, write with the format and the condition you would accept. The network that assembled this cellar is sometimes able to find another bottle; if it cannot, you will be told so plainly rather than offered something else. Our note on fill levels explains what to ask about an older bottle before anything is agreed.
