What we hold of the 2006
  • Brunello di Montalcino Riserva Gianfranco Soldera: 1 magnum

The vintage in Italy.

Italy in this cellar means two places above all: the Langhe, where Nebbiolo ripens late on marl hills and a Riserva can spend seven years in cask before release, and Bolgheri, where Cabernet sits close enough to the Tyrrhenian for the sea to moderate the summer.

Gianfranco Soldera made Sangiovese with the stubbornness of a saint, left the consorzio, and lost six vintages to a vandal who opened his casks in 2012. What survives from before is scarce and extraordinary.

Condition is described before anything travels: fill level, label, capsule and original case, bottle by bottle. If you have not bought an older bottle before, our note on fill levels explains what those words mean and what they are worth. The 2006 leaves storage once, insured and temperature-controlled, for your home, your cellar or your account at a bonded warehouse in Switzerland.
