Italy in 1984.
A cold, wet, miserable year in which several estates made no wine at all. In Bolgheri, Sassicaia was still produced, which is why the bottle exists.
Mario Incisa della Rocchetta planted Cabernet at Tenuta San Guido in the 1940s for his own table, and the 1968 was the first vintage sold. The 1985 remains the greatest Italian wine of its era, with a perfect score.
Condition is described before anything travels: fill level, label, capsule and original case, bottle by bottle. If you have not bought an older bottle before, our note on fill levels explains what those words mean and what they are worth. The 1984 leaves storage once, insured and temperature-controlled, for your home, your cellar or your account at a bonded warehouse in Switzerland.
