Italy in 1985.
The year Italian fine wine changed. A February freeze was followed by a hot, dry summer, and Bolgheri produced the most celebrated bottle in the country's history. Piedmont made a great vintage the same season.
Mario Incisa della Rocchetta planted Cabernet at Tenuta San Guido in the 1940s for his own table, and the 1968 was the first vintage sold. The 1985 remains the greatest Italian wine of its era, with a perfect score.
Condition is described before anything travels: fill level, label, capsule and original case, bottle by bottle. If you have not bought an older bottle before, our note on fill levels explains what those words mean and what they are worth. The 1985 leaves storage once, insured and temperature-controlled, for your home, your cellar or your account at a bonded warehouse in Switzerland.
