Burgundy in 2005.
The benchmark. A dry summer, a small healthy crop and wines of unusual completeness, still closed in many cellars twenty years on.
A monopole of 1.8 hectares that yields around five thousand bottles a year, sold only as part of a mixed case. Nothing in Burgundy is more difficult to obtain, or more quietly resold.
