What we hold of the 1978
  • 1 bottle · 100/100 points

Italy in 1978.

The legend of modern Piedmont. A cold, late spring cut the crop drastically, then a long dry autumn ripened what was left into wines of enormous tannin and acidity that took thirty years to open.

Made only in the finest years, from the Cascina Francia vineyard, and aged for seven years or more in large old casks. The 1978 is the vintage every Barolo drinker wants to have tasted once.

Condition is described before anything travels: fill level, label, capsule and original case, bottle by bottle. If you have not bought an older bottle before, our note on fill levels explains what those words mean and what they are worth. The 1978 leaves storage once, insured and temperature-controlled, for your home, your cellar or your account at a bonded warehouse in Switzerland.
