Bordeaux in 1973.
A very large and correspondingly dilute crop, made to be drunk within a decade. Fifty years on, survival is a question about the individual bottle rather than about the vintage.
Eleven hectares of blue clay on the Pomerol plateau, farmed by the Moueix family and made almost entirely from Merlot. Pétrus never had a château to speak of; it had the soil, and the soil made it the most sought-after wine in Bordeaux.
Condition is described before anything travels: fill level, label, capsule and original case, bottle by bottle.
