The vintage in Bordeaux.
Bordeaux is a maritime vineyard, and its vintages are decided by three moments: flowering in June, the rain in September, and the temperature of the nights in between. That is why two neighbouring years can produce wines a generation apart in character.
Eleven hectares of blue clay on the Pomerol plateau, farmed by the Moueix family and made almost entirely from Merlot. Pétrus never had a château to speak of; it had the soil, and the soil made it the most sought-after wine in Bordeaux.
Condition is described before anything travels: fill level, label, capsule and original case, bottle by bottle. If you have not bought an older bottle before, our note on fill levels explains what those words mean and what they are worth. The 1985 leaves storage once, insured and temperature-controlled, for your home, your cellar or your account at a bonded warehouse in Switzerland.
