Bordeaux in 1982.
The year that changed how Bordeaux is written about. Heat in September brought the crop in early and very ripe, and the resulting richness broke with every classical expectation of the region.
Eleven hectares of blue clay on the Pomerol plateau, farmed by the Moueix family and made almost entirely from Merlot. Pétrus never had a château to speak of; it had the soil, and the soil made it the most sought-after wine in Bordeaux.
