What we hold of the 1986
  • 1 bottle · neck-level fill

Bordeaux in 1986.

A huge Cabernet crop with tannins to match, picked after a dry, late season. The left bank made wines that needed thirty years and, on the best terraces, got them.

Eleven hectares of blue clay on the Pomerol plateau, farmed by the Moueix family and made almost entirely from Merlot. Pétrus never had a château to speak of; it had the soil, and the soil made it the most sought-after wine in Bordeaux.

Condition is described before anything travels: fill level, label, capsule and original case, bottle by bottle. If you have not bought an older bottle before, our note on fill levels explains what those words mean and what they are worth. The 1986 leaves storage once, insured and temperature-controlled, for your home, your cellar or your account at a bonded warehouse in Switzerland.
