The third consecutive hot, dry year. Small berries, dense colour and low yields, and a wine of concentration rather than of weight.
Eleven hectares of blue clay on the Pomerol plateau, farmed by the Moueix family and made almost entirely from Merlot. Pétrus never had a château to speak of; it had the soil, and the soil made it the most sought-after wine in Bordeaux.
